The Tool Room & Mould Maintenance professional is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and modification of various tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and injection moulds used in production. This role is critical in ensuring the continuous operation of manufacturing processes by minimizing downtime and maintaining the quality and precision of tooling. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and a meticulous approach to their work.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on injection moulds, dies, jigs, fixtures, and other tooling to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues related to moulds and tooling, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Execute repairs, modifications, and refurbishment of tooling components, including polishing, welding, grinding, and machining.
- Fabricate new tooling components or spare parts as required, utilizing various machine shop equipment such as lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, and EDM machines.
- Conduct routine inspections of moulds and tools, identifying wear and tear, and scheduling necessary maintenance or replacement of parts.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to improve mould design, optimize tooling performance, and reduce cycle times.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and modifications performed on tools and moulds.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and procedures while operating machinery and handling tools.
- Manage inventory of spare parts and consumables for the tool room, initiating requisitions as needed.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tool room efficiency and mould reliability.
- Ensure all tooling meets required quality standards and specifications.
