Overview:
The GIS Principal Engineer / Solution Architect will lead the architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise GIS and Utility Network solutions. This role provides strategic technical leadership across GIS platforms, integrations, cloud adoption, data migration, and enterprise architecture, ensuring scalable, secure, and business-aligned solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Define end-to-end architecture for GIS, Utility Network, and enterprise integration solutions.

Lead solution design workshops and translate business requirements into technical architectures.

Establish architecture standards, integration patterns, security frameworks, and best practices.

Design integrations between Esri platforms and enterprise systems such as SAP, Maximo, OMS, and AutoCAD etc.

Provide technical leadership for Utility Network implementation, migration, and modernization programs.

Review and govern technical designs, API strategies, data migration approaches, and cloud architectures.

Ensure solution scalability, performance, security, and operational readiness.

Mentor technical teams and provide architecture guidance throughout project delivery.

Develop architecture documentation, solution roadmaps, and governance standards.

Stay current with emerging GIS, cloud, and utility industry technologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

15+ years of experience in GIS, enterprise application architecture, and systems integration.

Extensive experience with ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and Utility Network.

Strong expertise in enterprise integrations, APIs, middleware, and data migration.

Proficiency in Python, C#, JavaScript, and enterprise database technologies.

Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.

Strong understanding of solution architecture, security, scalability, and governance.

Proven leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
Nice-to-Have (Not Mandatory)

Esri, Azure, or AWS architecture certifications.

Experience with ArcFM, Smallworld, or FME.

Experience in utility domains including Electric, Gas, Water, or Telecom.

Knowledge of GIS modernization, digital twins, IoT, and AI-driven solutions.
