About (DDIA)
DDIA is responsible for all the Digital requirements of the IIT Kanpur such as planning, purchasing, executing, support-providing and maintaining all the digital assets and services including the cybersecurity, telephone exchange, Internet Services, etc.
Role Summary
Major roles will be requirement understanding, design, development, implementation and enhancement/maintenance of the Academic ERP system.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirement analysis, system design, development, implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of Academic ERP and Office Automation systems
- Development of scalable and secure web applications using React.js, Node.js, Python, Java, JSP/Servlets, MySQL, and PostgreSQL
- Extensive use of AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor and Anthropic Claude for coding, testing, debugging, documentation, code optimization, and rapid application development
- Leveraging AI/AGI concepts and prompt engineering techniques for automation, productivity enhancement, and intelligent workflow development
- Development and integration of REST APIs, third-party services, payment gateways, and enterprise applications for seamless data access, interoperability, and migration
- Database design, optimization, data migration, backup, and maintenance activities using MySQL and PostgreSQL

- Modernization and integration of legacy Java/JSP/Servlet-based applications with modern technology frameworks
- Development of MIS reports, dashboards, analytics, and workflow automation modules

- Coordination with stakeholders, users, vendors, and technical teams for project execution and timely delivery
- Preparation of technical documentation, user manuals, and implementation reports
- Ensuring application security, data integrity, backup, recovery, and adherence to software development best practices
Detailed Responsibilities
- Study, analyse, and understand functional and technical requirements from academic, administrative, finance, examination, HR, hostel, purchase, stores, and other institute sections for automation and ERP implementation.
- Design, develop, customize, implement, and maintain Academic ERP and Office Automation applications using modern and legacy technology stacks including React.js, Node.js, Python, Java, JSP/Servlets, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
- Develop scalable, secure, responsive, and high-performance web-based applications and enterprise modules aligned with institute requirements and modern software engineering standards.
- Prepare System Requirement Specifications (SRS), technical design documents, workflows, database schemas, API documentation, SOPs, user manuals, and implementation reports.
- Extensively utilize AI-assisted development and productivity tools such as Cursor, Anthropic Claude, and other AI/AGI platforms for coding assistance, rapid prototyping, automated testing, debugging, bug fixing, code review, technical documentation generation, optimization, and software maintenance activities.
- Apply prompt engineering techniques and AI-driven development workflows to improve software quality, development efficiency, automation capabilities, reporting systems, and institutional digital transformation initiatives.
- Develop and integrate REST APIs, web services, authentication systems, payment gateways, and third-party enterprise applications for seamless interoperability, data sharing, and system integration across institutional platforms.
- Perform API-based and database-level data extraction, cleansing, transformation, synchronization, validation, and migration between legacy and modern applications/databases while ensuring data consistency and integrity.
- Design, administer, optimize, and maintain MySQL and PostgreSQL databases, including schema design, query optimization, indexing, backup, restoration, replication, performance tuning, and database security management.
- Modernize, upgrade, and integrate legacy applications developed using Java, JSP, and Servlet technologies with modern frameworks and architectures to improve maintainability and scalability.
- Develop MIS reports, dashboards, analytics modules, and automated reporting systems to support management decisions, operational monitoring, and institutional governance.
- Conduct unit testing, integration testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), debugging, bug tracking, vulnerability assessment, and performance optimization to ensure reliable and high-quality software delivery.
- Deploy, configure, and support applications on Linux-based environments and coordinate with server, database, and network teams for production deployment and operational support.
- Coordinate with stakeholders, users, vendors, consultants, and development teams for requirement clarification, project planning, implementation, issue resolution, and timely delivery of projects.
- Participate in technical discussions, review meetings, sprint planning, project monitoring, and implementation reviews; prepare Minutes of Meeting (MoM), progress reports, and status updates as required.
- Ensure application security, role-based access control, data confidentiality, cybersecurity compliance, audit readiness, and adherence to software development and IT governance best practices.
- Plan and execute application/database backup, restoration, disaster recovery, and business continuity activities to ensure reliability and availability of critical systems and data.
- Provide technical support, troubleshooting, maintenance, bug fixing, patch management, and continuous enhancement of ERP and Office Automation systems to ensure uninterrupted services.
- Conduct user training, knowledge transfer sessions, and preparation of training materials for smooth adoption and effective utilization of ERP and automation systems.
- Continuously explore and evaluate emerging technologies, AI tools, cloud-native solutions, DevOps practices, automation frameworks, and modern software development methodologies to make institute systems future-ready, scalable, secure, and efficient.
Desired Qualifications
M. Tech + 3 years of relevant exp, experience related to AI tools, LLMs and prompt engineering.

B. Tech/MSc/MCA + 5 years relevant experience, experience related to AI tools, LLMs and prompt engineering.
