An Academic Counsellor for study abroad advises students and parents on university and course selection, application procedures, and visa processes. This role involves guiding students through the entire overseas education journey, from initial counseling and profile assessment to application submission, pre-departure support, and ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately and on time. Senior-level roles also include performance tracking, team leadership, and maintaining strong relationships with educational institutions. Core responsibilities
- Student counseling and guidance:
- Conduct one-on-one consultations to assess student profiles, career goals, and financial situations.
- Provide expert advice on suitable countries, universities, and programs based on student needs and aspirations.
- Application and admissions support:
- Guide students through the application process, including drafting and reviewing application materials like Statements of Purpose (SOPs), resumes, and recommendation letters.
- Assist with standardized test preparation (e.g., IELTS, GRE) and help identify scholarship opportunities.
- Visa and pre-departure assistance:
- Assist with the visa application process, including documentation and interview preparation.
- Provide information on accommodation, travel, and other pre-departure requirements.
- Institutional and market relations:
- Liaise with foreign university delegates and partner institutions to stay updated on admissions criteria and offerings.
- Attend education fairs and events to represent the company.
- Team and performance management (for senior roles):
- Track and report on key performance indicators and conversion targets.
- Potentially lead, mentor, and train a team of counsellors to improve service quality and productivity.
