Staff Nurse Job Description
Job Summary
The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality patient care, monitoring patient health, administering medications, assisting physicians, and maintaining accurate medical records. The nurse ensures patient safety, comfort, and adherence to hospital policies and healthcare standards.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Assess patients' physical and emotional conditions.
- Monitor vital signs and record observations.
- Develop and implement nursing care plans.
- Provide bedside care and support to patients.
Medication Administration
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions.
- Maintain accurate medication records.
Clinical Procedures
- Assist doctors during examinations and medical procedures.
- Perform wound dressing, injections, catheterization, IV therapy, and other nursing procedures.
- Prepare patients for surgeries and diagnostic tests.
Documentation
- Maintain patient records and nursing notes.
- Update electronic medical records accurately and promptly.
- Prepare reports for shift handovers.
Patient Education
- Educate patients and families about treatments, medications, and post-discharge care.
- Promote health awareness and disease prevention.
Infection Control & Safety
- Follow hospital infection control protocols.
- Ensure a clean and safe patient environment.
- Adhere to patient safety and quality standards.
Team Collaboration
- Coordinate with doctors, therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in nursing meetings and training programs.
- Support junior nursing staff when required.
Qualifications
- B.Sc. Nursing, GNM, or equivalent nursing qualification.
- Valid nursing registration/license from the appropriate nursing council.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification is an advantage.
Experience
- Freshers may apply for junior positions.
- 1–3 years of hospital experience preferred.
- Experience in ICU, Emergency, OT, NICU, or specialized departments is an added advantage.
Skills Required
- Strong clinical and patient-care skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and in shifts.
- Knowledge of hospital protocols and infection control practices.
- Basic computer and electronic medical record (EMR) skills.
Working Conditions
- Rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and handle emergency situations.
Pay: ₹14,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
