Role Overview We are seeking a Node.js Developer with around 2 years of hands-on experience to join our backend engineering team. You will help build and maintain scalable APIs, microservices, and backend systems — and you're expected to leverage AI-assisted development tools as a natural part of your workflow.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services using Node.js
- Use AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, etc.) to accelerate development, code review, and debugging
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code
- Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and designers
- Integrate third-party services (payment gateways, notifications, analytics, etc.)
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices
- Debug and resolve production issues in a timely manner
- Work with databases (SQL/NoSQL) to design and optimize data models
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
Required Skills
- 2 years of professional experience with Node.js
- Hands-on experience with AI coding tools — GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar (non-negotiable)
- Strong understanding of Express.js or similar frameworks (Fastify, Koa)
- Experience with REST API design and development
- Proficiency with databases — MongoDB and/or PostgreSQL/MySQL
- Familiarity with Git and version control workflows
- Basic knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Understanding of asynchronous programming, event loops, and callbacks
- Exposure to Docker or containerization concepts
- Ability to critically review and validate AI-generated code — not just accept suggestions blindly
AI Proficiency We Look For
- Comfortable using AI tools for boilerplate generation, refactoring, and debugging
- Uses AI to write and improve unit/integration tests
- Leverages AI for documentation generation and code comments
- Knows the limitations of AI tools and applies human judgment in review
- Stays updated on the evolving AI developer tooling landscape
Good to Have
- Experience with message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka, or Redis pub/sub)
- Knowledge of GraphQL
- Familiarity with microservices architecture
- Exposure to WebSockets or real-time communication
- Understanding of OAuth2 / JWT-based authentication
- Experimented with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic) for building AI-powered features
