A welder is a highly skilled tradesperson responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal components and structures using specialized machinery, extreme heat, and pressure. They interpret blueprints, operate welding equipment (such as MIG, TIG, and arc), and inspect joints to ensure structural integrity and strict safety compliance.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and evaluate engineering drawings, schematics, and blueprints to determine exact welding requirements.
- Material Preparation: Cut, grind, and clean metal surfaces to remove impurities (rust, grease, or moisture) before welding.
- Equipment Operation: Set up and safely operate hand-held or remotely controlled welding torches and cutting tools.
- Welding Execution: Join metal components in various positions—including flat, vertical, or overhead—ensuring proper fusion.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect completed welds for accuracy, structural defects, and compliance with project specifications using measuring instruments.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain, troubleshoot, and clean tools and welding machinery routinely.
