Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior RACF Technician to join our Mainframe Security Services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, support, governance, and continuous improvement of IBM RACF security environments within IBM z/OS Mainframe platforms.
This role plays a critical part in protecting enterprise systems, data, and applications by managing access controls, enforcing security policies, supporting compliance requirements, and ensuring adherence to organizational and regulatory security standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong Mainframe security expertise, exceptional analytical skills, and experience supporting large scale enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
RACF Administration and Security Management
. Administer and maintain IBM RACF security environments across development, test, and production systems.
. Create, modify, and remove RACF user IDs, groups, profiles, and resource permissions.
. Implement and maintain role based access controls (RBAC) and least privilege access principles.
. Configure and manage dataset, transaction, application, and system resource security.
. Perform RACF database maintenance and integrity validation activities.
User Access Management
. Process and manage user access requests in accordance with security policies and procedures.
. Conduct user provisioning, deprovisioning, and access modifications.
. Support periodic access reviews, recertification activities, and segregation of duties requirements.
. Ensure timely and accurate execution of access management processes.
Security Monitoring and Incident Response
. Monitor RACF security events, violations, and unauthorized access attempts.
. Investigate security incidents and perform root cause analysis.
. Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and audit teams to resolve security concerns.
. Support security remediation and risk mitigation initiatives.
Audit and Compliance Support
. Support internal and external audits by providing security evidence, reports, and documentation.
. Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and regulatory requirements.
. Participate in compliance reviews related to SOX, PCI DSS, ISO 27001, GDPR, and other applicable frameworks.
. Maintain accurate security records and audit trails.
Security Governance and Risk Management
. Review and assess security risks associated with access requests and system changes.
. Support implementation of security controls and governance processes.
. Recommend security improvements and best practices to strengthen Mainframe security posture.
. Assist in policy development and security standards enforcement.
Change and Release Management
. Implement RACF related changes in accordance with established change management processes.
. Assess security impacts of infrastructure, application, and system changes.
. Support project initiatives involving security design, migration, and implementation activities.
. Maintain documentation for security changes and configurations.
Reporting and Documentation
. Generate and analyze RACF reports related to users, permissions, groups, and security events.
. Develop and maintain operational procedures, security standards, and knowledge articles.
. Document security configurations, processes, and audit requirements.
. Provide management reporting and security metrics as required.
Leadership and Collaboration
. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior security administrators and technicians.
. Collaborate with Mainframe system programmers, application teams, auditors, compliance teams, and cybersecurity stakeholders.
. Participate in security reviews, architecture discussions, and strategic security initiatives.
. Contribute to continuous improvement and automation efforts.
Required Qualifications
. Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related discipline.
. Minimum 5–10 years of experience supporting IBM RACF security administration in enterprise Mainframe environments.
. Proven experience working in regulated and security sensitive environments.
