About Us
We're building a new Indian clothing brand from the ground up, and we're looking for a Fashion Merchandiser who wants to be part of that journey from day one. This isn't a role where you'll just manage a piece of an existing pipeline — you'll help shape how our garments are sourced, made, and brought to life, right from concept to the finished product on a rack.
About the Role
We need someone who understands the full lifecycle of garment production — someone who can take a design idea and walk it all the way through fabric sourcing, vendor negotiation, sampling, production, quality checks, and final delivery. You'll be one of the key people turning our vision into an actual, wearable, sellable product.
What You'll Do
- Source fabrics, trims, and other raw materials — identifying reliable mills, wholesalers, and suppliers who fit our quality and budget
- Negotiate pricing and terms with fabric suppliers, tailors, and manufacturing units
- Work closely with designers to translate design concepts into technical specs and production-ready patterns
- Coordinate sampling — reviewing fit, fabric quality, stitching, and finishing before approving bulk production
- Manage relationships with manufacturers/karigars and oversee production timelines
- Conduct quality control checks at every stage — fabric, cutting, stitching, finishing, and packaging
- Track costing at each step (fabric, labor, trims, packaging) to keep production within budget
- Plan and manage the production calendar so collections launch on time
- Coordinate with logistics for timely delivery of finished garments
- Stay updated on fabric trends, sourcing hubs, and manufacturing techniques relevant to Indian fashion
- Collaborate with the founder/design team on how sourcing and production decisions tie back to the brand's identity and pricing strategy
What We're Looking For
- Solid understanding of the garment production process — from raw fabric to finished piece
- Experience with fabric sourcing and vendor management (mills, wholesalers, tailoring units)
- Strong negotiation skills
- Eye for quality — fit, fabric, stitching, finishing
- Ability to manage multiple vendors and timelines at once
- Comfortable working hands-on in a startup environment — this role will involve a lot of doing, not just overseeing
- Prior experience in fashion merchandising, garment manufacturing, or a related field preferred
- Based in or willing to travel to fabric/garment sourcing hubs [mention specific cities if relevant, e.g., Surat, Tiruppur, Delhi]
Why Join Us
- Be part of building an Indian fashion brand from the very beginning
- Real ownership over sourcing and production decisions, not just execution
- Room to grow as the brand grows
