The Nursing Superintendent is responsible for the overall administration, planning, organization, and supervision of nursing services within the hospital. The role ensures high-quality patient care, effective utilization of nursing resources, staff development, regulatory compliance, and implementation of hospital policies and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all nursing services and nursing personnel across the hospital.
- Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.
- Ensure delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered nursing care.
- Plan nursing manpower requirements, duty rosters, and staff deployment.
- Supervise nursing documentation, medication administration, and patient safety practices.
- Coordinate recruitment, orientation, training, and performance appraisal of nursing staff.
- Conduct regular nursing audits and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with NABH standards, infection control policies, and hospital regulations.
- Monitor utilization of nursing resources, equipment, and supplies.
- Address patient complaints and ensure prompt resolution of nursing-related issues.
- Coordinate with consultants, department heads, and hospital administration for smooth operations.
- Organize continuing nursing education and staff development programs.
