Job Summary
The Surgical Oncologist is responsible for evaluating cancer patients, performing oncological surgeries, participating in multidisciplinary treatment planning, and delivering high-quality, evidence-based surgical care while ensuring excellent patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and diagnose patients with solid organ and soft tissue cancers.
- Plan and perform oncological surgeries as per established clinical guidelines.
- Counsel patients and families regarding surgical options, risks, benefits, and expected outcomes.
- Participate in multidisciplinary tumor board meetings with Medical and Radiation Oncologists.
- Coordinate pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative patient care.
- Manage surgical complications and ensure appropriate follow-up.
- Maintain complete and accurate clinical documentation.
- Adhere to hospital SOPs, infection control protocols, and patient safety standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, CMEs, academic activities, and clinical research.
- Mentor junior doctors, RMOs, and clinical staff where required.
- Ensure ethical, compassionate, and patient-centric care at all times.
Eligibility
Applicants with any of the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
- MCh/DNB in Surgical Oncology, OR
- MS (General Surgery) with Fellowship in Surgical Oncology, OR
- MDS with Fellowship in Surgical Oncology (for eligible oncology surgical disciplines as per applicable regulations and institutional requirements).
A valid State Medical Council/NMC/DCI registration (as applicable) is required.
Experience
- 0 – 5+ years of experience in Surgical Oncology.
- Freshers and experienced consultants are welcome to apply.
Skills Required
- Strong surgical and clinical decision-making skills.
- Expertise in oncological surgical principles and peri-operative care.
- Excellent communication and patient counselling skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary cancer care team.
- Commitment to ethical, evidence-based, and compassionate patient care.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in GI, Breast, Head & Neck, Gynecological, Thoracic, Uro-Oncology, or Soft Tissue Oncology surgeries.
- Experience in laparoscopic and minimally invasive oncological procedures is preferred.
- Experience in a dedicated cancer hospital or multispecialty hospital.

Pay: ₹300,000.00 - ₹450,000.00 per year
