Corefix is an early-stage startup, and this is a founding-engineer-shaped role. You won't be inheriting a mature codebase with a playbook — you'll be defining the architecture, writing the first lines of several services, choosing the stack, and setting the engineering standards the rest of the team will follow.
Equally important: you'll be building and guiding the team. We're looking for someone who has already done this — mentored engineers, run code reviews that raise the bar, broken down ambiguous problems into shippable work, and kept a small team moving without heavy process. Proven, not aspirational.
If you want ownership from day zero and are comfortable being the most technical person in the room while still being hands-on in the code, this is that role.
What you'll do
Own the technical architecture end to end — system design, data modeling, API contracts, service boundaries, and the trade-offs behind each decision
Build products from scratch: greenfield, zero to production, including the unglamorous parts (auth, infra, CI/CD, observability)
Lead and grow the engineering team — mentoring, code reviews, setting standards for testing, documentation, and release quality
Break down product goals into clear technical roadmaps and delivery plans, and keep the team organized and unblocked
Stay hands-on: expect to write a significant amount of production code yourself
Work directly with founders on product decisions, scoping, and prioritization
Set up and maintain deployment pipelines, environments, and monitoring
Evaluate where AI/GenAI capabilities genuinely add product value and prototype them
Must-have
3+ years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrable ownership of systems you designed and shipped
Strong full-stack skills with Python at the core — Django / FastAPI / Flask on the backend, plus solid modern frontend (React / Next.js or equivalent)
Proven architectural ability — you can defend your design choices, explain scaling and failure modes, and you've made these calls in production, not just in interviews
Built something from scratch — you've taken a product from an empty repo to real users
Strong fundamentals: databases (SQL + NoSQL), REST/GraphQL API design, caching, queues, authentication and security basics
Demonstrated team leadership — mentoring engineers, leading reviews, organizing work, and raising the team's technical standard
Comfort with ambiguity, startup pace, and shifting priorities
Clear written and verbal communication — critical in a fully remote team
Good to have
DevOps knowledge — Docker, CI/CD, cloud (AWS / GCP / Azure), infrastructure-as-code, basic Kubernetes, cost-aware infra decisions
Working familiarity with AI / GenAI — LLM APIs, prompt design, RAG, vector databases, or agent workflows. You don't need to be an ML researcher; you do need to know what these tools can and can't do
Mobile application development — React Native, Flutter, or native Android/iOS
Experience at an early-stage startup or as a founding engineer
Open-source contributions or side projects we can look at
