Position: Printing Assistant Operator

Experience: 2–5 Years (Flexible Packaging / Rotogravure / Flexographic Printing)
Qualification: ITI / Diploma / 10th or 12th Pass with relevant industry experience
Job Purpose
To assist the Printing Machine Operator in setting up, operating, and maintaining printing machines to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production of flexible packaging materials while minimizing wastage and machine downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Printing Operator during machine setup, job changeover, and production startup.
- Load and unload BOPP, PET, PE, CPP, Metalized Film, and other packaging substrates.
- Prepare inks, solvents, adhesives, and other consumables as per production requirements.
- Assist in mounting printing cylinders, doctor blades, and related machine components.
- Monitor print quality including colour registration, shade variation, print defects, and alignment.
- Help maintain correct ink viscosity and replenish inks during production.
- Remove printed rolls and ensure proper identification and labeling.
- Support production targets by minimizing material wastage and downtime.
- Clean printing machine components, ink trays, pumps, cylinders, and surrounding work area.
- Follow production schedules and job cards accurately.
- Report machine abnormalities, quality issues, or safety concerns immediately to the Operator or Supervisor.
- Maintain production records and assist in shift handover activities.
- Coordinate with Quality Control, Maintenance, Lamination, Slitting, and Stores departments for smooth workflow.
Quality Responsibilities
- Ensure printed material meets approved customer specifications.
- Perform visual inspection for colour consistency, print registration, pinholes, smudges, streaks, and other defects.
- Segregate non-conforming material and report immediately.
- Follow SOPs, Work Instructions, and Quality Management System requirements.
Safety Responsibilities
- Follow all company safety rules and wear mandatory PPE.
- Handle inks, solvents, and chemicals safely.
- Maintain good housekeeping as per 5S standards.
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses immediately.
- Participate in safety training and emergency drills.
Skills Required
- Basic knowledge of Rotogravure or Flexographic printing process.
- Understanding of flexible packaging materials.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to identify common printing defects.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in rotating shifts.
- Physically fit to handle rolls and production activities.
