Role Overview
The Assistant Manager will support and lead the delivery of high‑visibility, strategically important initiatives within the People & Operations function. The role focuses on translating strategic direction into structured project plans, disciplined execution, and measurable outcomes.
Operating as an experienced individual contributor, the Assistant Manager is responsible for managing assigned projects or defined workstreams end‑to‑end. The role requires strong project management fundamentals, clear communication, and the ability to work effectively in a matrixed, global environment, partnering with stakeholders across People & Operations and enabling functions.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Delivery Execution
- Lead assigned projects or workstreams from initiation through closure, ensuring delivery against defined objectives, timelines, and quality standards.
- Partner with stakeholders to define project scope, deliverables, milestones, and success criteria.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including tasks, timelines, dependencies, and ownership.
- Track progress against milestones; proactively identify risks, issues, and delays, and drive resolution.
Risk, Issue & Quality Management
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues, working with stakeholders to define mitigation approaches.
- Ensure deliverables meet agreed requirements and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate RAID logs, status trackers, and project documentation in line with delivery standards.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Maintain clear, consistent communication with all stakeholders, providing regular status updates and forward‑looking insights as needed.
- Prepare concise progress updates, summary materials, and decision inputs to support governance and leadership discussions.
- Coordinate effectively across teams to manage dependencies and ensure alignment.
Reporting, Closure & Continuous Improvement
- Prepare status reports, outcome summaries, and closure documentation, including lessons learned.
- Support formal project sign‑off and handover processes.
- Apply learnings from completed initiatives to improve future delivery effectiveness.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience
- Typically 6–8 years of relevant experience in project management, transformation delivery, or operational change, preferably within HR, People & Operations, consulting, or professional services environments.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage projects or defined workstreams end‑to‑end.
- Experience working with global or matrixed teams and multiple stakeholders.
Skills & Capabilities
- Strong project management fundamentals (scope, planning, milestones, RAID, reporting).
- Clear and structured written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in ambiguous or evolving environments.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities concurrently.
Preferred
- Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or equivalent).
- Exposure to PMO or portfolio‑based delivery environments.
