Job Summary:
The Electrical Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and safety of all electrical systems across retail outlets, warehouses, and production facilities. The role involves preventive and breakdown maintenance, energy management, statutory compliance, vendor management, and leading a team of electrical technicians to ensure uninterrupted business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical Maintenance
- Plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance for all electrical equipment.
- Ensure uninterrupted power supply across retail outlets and production facilities.
- Attend and resolve electrical breakdowns with minimum downtime.
- Maintain LT panels, HT panels (where applicable), transformers, DG sets, UPS systems, stabilizers, and electrical distribution systems.
- Monitor the performance of HVAC, refrigeration, lighting, kitchen equipment, and other electrical installations.
Preventive Maintenance
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules.
- Maintain maintenance records, equipment history, and service logs.
- Conduct periodic inspections to identify potential failures and corrective actions.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and statutory regulations.
- Conduct regular electrical safety audits.
- Ensure proper earthing, fire safety systems, and electrical protection devices are maintained.
- Coordinate with government authorities during inspections and renewals.
Energy Management
- Monitor electricity consumption across outlets.
- Identify energy-saving opportunities and implement cost-reduction initiatives.
- Analyse monthly utility bills and recommend efficiency improvements.
Team Management
- Lead, train, and supervise electrical technicians and maintenance staff.
- Allocate daily maintenance activities and monitor performance.
- Develop technical skills and safety awareness within the team.
Vendor & Contractor Management
- Coordinate with AMC vendors and electrical contractors.
- Evaluate vendor performance and ensure quality of service.
- Verify contractor bills and ensure work completion as per standards.
Project & New Store Support
- Support electrical installation for new store openings and renovations.
- Review electrical layouts, BOQs, and project execution.
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, and contractors during project implementation.
Inventory Management
- Maintain adequate stock of electrical spare parts and consumables.
- Monitor inventory levels to avoid operational disruptions.
- Ensure proper documentation of spare issuance and usage.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Electrical equipment uptime.
- Preventive maintenance compliance (%).
- Breakdown response and resolution time.
- Energy consumption reduction.
- Maintenance cost control.
- Safety audit compliance.
- Zero electrical accidents.
- Timely completion of maintenance schedules.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Electrical Supervisor Licence (preferred).
- Additional certifications in Electrical Safety or Energy Management are an advantage.
Experience
- 8–12 years of experience in electrical maintenance.
- Minimum 3–5 years in a managerial role.
- Experience in FMCG retail, food manufacturing, supermarket chains, restaurants, or retail outlets is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Electrical distribution systems.
- HT/LT maintenance.
- DG sets and UPS systems.
- HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Building Management Systems (BMS) (preferred).
- PLC basics and automation knowledge.
- MS Office and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
