The Application Security Engineer candidate will have a strong background in cybersecurity and understanding of web application and zero trust proxy security practices. The primary responsibility of the Engineer will be to ensure the effective deployment, configuration, and maintenance of our systems for Global customers. This role requires expertise in Web Application Firewalls, Zero Trust Proxy, Cloud security as well as experience with alerts and detections and data log analysis. This role will be part of the Application Edge Protection Service within the CyberSecurity pillar.
Work you'll do
As an Analyst, Cyber Engineering on the Application Edge Protection Service team, you will be responsible for:
- Deploying, configuring, and maintaining web application firewall and zero trust proxy solutions to help protect enterprise applications and services
- Monitoring security events, alerts, and logs to investigate potential threats and support incident response activities with cybersecurity teams
- Developing and maintaining detection rules, alerts, and reports to identify risks and provide findings to stakeholders
- Partnering with infrastructure, engineering, and application teams to support integrations across content delivery networks, web application firewall platforms, and application environments
- Using web application firewall data, logs, and traffic patterns to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation actions
The team
The Application Edge Protection Service team is part of Deloitte’s Cyber organization and focuses on strengthening protections at the application edge across enterprise environments. The team helps design, implement, and support security capabilities such as web application firewall and zero trust proxy solutions to reduce risk and improve resilience. Team members work across cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application teams to help enable secure access, visibility, and threat detection for global users and services.

Shift Timings: 11 AM to 8 PM
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; alternatively, equivalent experience
- 4+ years of experience, including 2+ years in network security and 2+ years in application security
- Experience with web application security concepts and Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) Top 10 vulnerabilities and mitigation techniques
- Experience with authentication and authorization protocols such as OAuth, Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), and OpenID Connect (OIDC)
- Experience with Web Application Firewall (WAF), Zero Trust Network Access, application programming interfaces (APIs), and cloud security policies
- Experience reviewing HTTP logs and troubleshooting application traffic behavior
- Experience with Domain Name System (DNS), firewalls, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificates, and API authentication
Preferred:
- Experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) or in cybersecurity analysis, log analysis, and threat detection
- Experience with Akamai web application firewall technologies
- Experience with zero trust frameworks and integrating zero trust capabilities with web application firewall solutions
- Experience with cloud platforms and security services across Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
- Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or GIAC
