Job Description: We are looking for an experienced Quality Control professional with strong hands-on experience in inspection of VMC-machined components, particularly precision engineering parts.
The candidate will be responsible for inspecting components manufactured on STM Make VL 1000 Die & Mould Series VMC, ensuring dimensional accuracy, geometric accuracy, surface finish, and compliance with engineering drawings and customer specifications.
Preferred Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a hands-on QC professional from a CNC/VMC, tool-room or precision engineering environment, who can independently inspect complex machined components, understand drawings and tolerances, accurately use measuring instruments, and work closely with VMC Programmers/Setters/Operators to maintain consistent production quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect VMC-machined components at first-piece, in-process, and final inspection stages.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, component drawings, GD&T, dimensions, tolerances, and surface-finish requirements.
- Verify critical dimensions and geometrical features of precision components.
- Check component dimensions against drawings and inspection standards and prepare inspection reports.
- Inspect length, width, height, hole diameter, depth, pitch, radius, angles, step dimensions, profiles, and other critical features.
- Verify parallelism, perpendicularity, flatness, concentricity, positional accuracy, and other applicable geometrical tolerances.
- Perform inspection using appropriate precision measuring instruments.
- Check surface finish and identify machining defects such as tool marks, burrs, chatter marks, dimensional variation, incorrect profiles, and other abnormalities.
- Conduct first-off inspection and provide clearance to production before continuing batch production.
- Carry out regular in-process inspection to identify dimensional variation at an early stage.
- Perform final inspection and ensure that only conforming components are released for further processing or dispatch.
- Identify rejection, rework, and deviation and communicate the same to the Production/VMC team.
- Coordinate closely with VMC Programmers/Setters and Operators to resolve quality issues arising from tool offsets, tool wear, incorrect programs, workholding, or machining conditions.
- Maintain proper inspection records, rejection reports, rework records, and quality documentation.
- Ensure measuring instruments are properly maintained and calibrated.
- Follow established quality control procedures, inspection plans, and work instructions.
- Support root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for recurring quality problems.
- Ensure traceability of inspected components through proper identification and documentation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and controlled inspection area.
