Job Summary
The Shift Engineer – Electrical is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of the electrical systems in a Natural Gas Based Power Plant. The role involves monitoring electrical equipment, attending breakdowns, coordinating preventive maintenance activities, and ensuring uninterrupted power generation while maintaining compliance with safety and statutory regulations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Monitor and operate electrical systems, including generators, transformers, HT/LT switchgear, MCCs, PCCs, and protection systems.
2. Ensure continuous and reliable operation of the gas turbine, generator, and auxiliary electrical equipment during the assigned shift.
3. Attend electrical breakdowns, diagnose faults, and restore equipment within the minimum possible time.
4. Perform routine inspections of electrical equipment and record operational parameters.
5. Coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
6. Monitor generator synchronization, load sharing, and power distribution systems.
7. Ensure proper operation of UPS systems, battery chargers, emergency DG sets, and lighting systems.
8. Maintain shift logbooks, maintenance records, electrical test reports, and equipment history.
9. Coordinate with operations, instrumentation, and mechanical teams during normal operation and plant shutdowns.
10. Ensure strict compliance with electrical safety procedures, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Permit-to-Work (PTW), and statutory requirements.
11. Support plant start-up, shutdown, commissioning, and emergency restoration activities.
12. Monitor electrical energy consumption and recommend energy-saving initiatives.
13. Supervise electrical technicians and contractors during shift operations.
Qualification
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree (B.E./B.Tech.) in Electrical Engineering.
Experience
1. 2 –5 years of experience in a Natural Gas Based Power Plant, Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP), Captive Power Plant, or similar industrial power generation facility.
2. Experience in gas turbine generator electrical systems is preferred.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
