Job Summary
The Biomedical Executive is responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and management of medical equipment across the hospital. The role ensures that all biomedical devices function safely and efficiently, comply with regulatory and accreditation standards, and support uninterrupted patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, test, and commission biomedical equipment as per manufacturer specifications.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of medical equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs with authorized service providers when required.
- Maintain calibration schedules and ensure all equipment is calibrated according to regulatory and manufacturer requirements.
- Conduct routine safety and functional checks on medical devices.
- Maintain detailed records of equipment inventory, maintenance, calibration, repairs, warranties, and annual maintenance contracts (AMCs/CMCs).
- Coordinate with clinical departments to ensure timely availability and functionality of biomedical equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend replacement or upgrades based on condition and service life.
- Assist in the procurement, evaluation, installation, and acceptance testing of new medical equipment.
- Ensure compliance with NABH standards, statutory regulations, biomedical engineering guidelines, and hospital policies.
- Train healthcare staff on the safe and effective operation of medical equipment.
- Coordinate vendor visits, preventive maintenance schedules, and service contract renewals.
- Support emergency breakdown maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
- Prepare monthly maintenance reports, equipment utilization reports, and performance metrics.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, risk assessments, and internal audits.
- Ensure adherence to electrical safety, infection control, and workplace safety protocols.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Biomedical Manager or Hospital Administration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in biomedical engineering or medical equipment maintenance in a hospital.
- Experience in managing critical care, OT, ICU, laboratory, radiology, and diagnostic equipment is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of biomedical equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with medical device safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of calibration, preventive maintenance, and equipment lifecycle management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with clinical teams, vendors, and service engineers.
- Good documentation and report-writing skills.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per hour
