Job Summary
Suntek Tooling is looking for a Purchase Engineer with experience in Tool Room / Press Tool / Sheet Metal / Automotive manufacturing.
The candidate will be responsible for material procurement, supplier development, price negotiation, cost reduction, purchase planning and timely availability of materials and outside processes.
The key objective of this position is to reduce procurement cost, improve supplier performance and increase overall project profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle purchase of MS plates, D2, EN31, OHNS, aluminium and other tool-room materials.
- Procure standard tooling components, fasteners, consumables and accessories.
- Obtain and compare quotations from multiple suppliers.
- Negotiate material and component prices and achieve cost reductions.
- Develop new suppliers and alternate sources.
- Maintain and continuously update supplier-wise rate database.
- Prepare and release Purchase Orders.
- Follow up suppliers for material delivery and outside processes.
- Coordinate with Design, Production, Stores and Accounts.
- Plan material purchases according to project requirements and delivery schedules.
- Monitor raw-material prices and identify opportunities for advance/alternate purchasing.
- Develop suppliers for machining, grinding, EDM, heat treatment, laser cutting, surface treatment, PVD coating and other outside processes.
- Verify material specifications, quantity and delivery before receipt.
- Maintain supplier performance records.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
- Avoid unnecessary urgent purchases and premium pricing.
- Support project costing by providing updated material and process rates.
Key Performance Responsibility – Cost Reduction
The candidate will be expected to:
- Reduce raw-material procurement cost through negotiation.
- Develop competitive alternate suppliers.
- Compare supplier quotations and benchmark market rates.
- Negotiate better rates for repeat materials and processes.
- Reduce outside-process costs.
- Maintain standard negotiated rates for frequently purchased items.
- Identify opportunities to reduce material wastage and procurement lead time.
- Support the company in improving project gross margin.
Required Skills
- 3–6 years experience in Tool Room / Press Tool / Sheet Metal / Automotive manufacturing purchase.
- Good knowledge of engineering materials.
- Understanding of MS, D2, EN31, OHNS, aluminium and tool steels preferred.
- Experience in supplier development and negotiation.
- Strong quotation comparison and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of machining and outside processes.
- Good Excel skills.
- Experience in Purchase Orders and supplier follow-up.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of procurement activities.

- Automotive Tier-1/Tier-2 suppliers
- Die manufacturing companies will be preferred.
Qualification
Diploma / BE / B.Tech – Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering or related field.
Candidates with strong relevant purchase experience in tool-room manufacturing may also be considered.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
