Job Purpose
To ensure a safe and compliant environment for guests, employees, contractors, and hotel assets by implementing and monitoring fire & life safety, occupational health and safety, emergency preparedness, and statutory compliance across the hotel property.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily safety inspections of guest rooms, kitchens, restaurants, banquet areas, public areas, back-of-house areas, plant rooms and other hotel facilities.
- Ensure proper functioning and readiness of fire alarms, fire extinguishers, hydrants, sprinklers, fire pumps, emergency lighting, PA systems and fire exits.
- Monitor fire & life safety systems and coordinate preventive maintenance with the Engineering team.
- Conduct regular fire drills, mock drills and emergency evacuation exercises and maintain proper records.
- Identify hazards and conduct Risk Assessments / Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure emergency exits, escape routes and fire doors remain accessible and properly maintained.
- Monitor safe working practices in kitchens, engineering, housekeeping, laundry, stores and other operational areas.
- Ensure appropriate PPE is available and used by employees and contractors.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions and prepare detailed reports.
- Maintain safety records, inspection checklists, incident reports, training records and statutory documents.
- Coordinate with Engineering, HR, Security and Operations teams on safety-related matters.
- Conduct regular safety awareness and emergency-response training for hotel employees.
- Monitor contractor and vendor safety compliance, including work permits and safe working procedures.
- Ensure periodic testing, inspection and certification of fire & life safety equipment and systems.
- Coordinate with local fire authorities, government departments, consultants and safety agencies whenever required.
- Monitor compliance with applicable fire safety, occupational safety, environmental and statutory requirements.
- Conduct regular safety audits and follow up on corrective actions until closure.
- Support emergency response activities involving fire, medical emergencies, electrical incidents, gas leaks and other hazards.
- Ensure safety signage, emergency contact information and evacuation plans are displayed at appropriate locations.
- Prepare monthly safety reports and submit observations and compliance status to management.
- Perform any other safety-related duties assigned by the management.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma / Degree in Fire & Safety, Industrial Safety, Environmental Safety, Engineering or a related field.
- Certification in Fire & Safety / Occupational Health & Safety will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of hotel fire & life safety systems and emergency procedures.
- Good knowledge of MS Office, particularly Word and Excel.
Experience
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in hotel, hospitality, commercial building, facility management or a similar environment.
- Candidates with experience in Fire & Life Safety / EHS / Hotel Safety will be preferred.

Preferred Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should be proactive, physically fit, disciplined and capable of responding quickly during emergencies. Experience in a hotel environment and practical knowledge of fire-fighting equipment, emergency procedures and safety compliance will be highly preferred.
