About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced SQL Database Administrator (SQL DBA) Consultant to manage, optimize, secure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring database availability, performance tuning, backup and recovery, security management, and troubleshooting database-related issues across business-critical applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments.
- Monitor database performance and implement performance tuning strategies.
- Manage database backup, restoration, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.
- Perform database health checks and capacity planning.
- Optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, indexes, and execution plans.
- Ensure database security, user access management, and compliance with organizational policies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, deadlocks, blocking, and connectivity problems.
- Implement and maintain SQL Server replication, log shipping, Always On Availability Groups, and clustering solutions.
- Support application teams during deployments and database releases.
- Create and maintain database documentation, SOPs, and architecture diagrams.
- Monitor database jobs, alerts, maintenance plans, and automation processes.
- Collaborate with developers, infrastructure teams, and stakeholders to ensure database reliability and scalability.
Required Skills
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2019/2022).
- Expertise in SQL Query Optimization and Performance Tuning.
- Hands-on experience with Backup & Recovery, Disaster Recovery, and High Availability solutions.
- Knowledge of SQL Server Replication, Log Shipping, Clustering, and Always On Availability Groups.
- Experience with Database Security, Role Management, and Audit Controls.
- Proficiency in T-SQL, Stored Procedures, Functions, Views, and Triggers.
- Experience with Database Monitoring and Troubleshooting tools.
- Understanding of Windows Server administration and cloud-hosted SQL environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Microsoft SQL Server certifications preferred.
- Experience supporting large-scale production databases.
- Exposure to Azure SQL Database or AWS RDS for SQL Server is an added advantage.
