- Prepare and cook a variety of South Indian dishes, including dosas, idlis, vadas, sambar, rasam, chutneys, and curries, according to traditional recipes and culinary standards.
- Ensure the quality and consistency of all dishes prepared, paying close attention to taste, presentation, and portion sizes.
- Work closely with the kitchen team to plan menus, develop new recipes, and create innovative dishes while maintaining authenticity.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of South Indian ingredients and spices, ensuring freshness and availability at all times.
- Train and supervise kitchen staff in proper food preparation techniques, safety procedures, and sanitation standards, promoting a clean and organized work environment.
- Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations, including proper storage, handling, and labeling of food products.
- Stay updated on current food trends, ingredients, and cooking methods related to South Indian cuisine, incorporating new ideas into menu development when appropriate.
Key Skill Requirements
- Proven experience of atleast 2-3 years as a South Indian Chef or Cook in a professional kitchen environment.
- In-depth knowledge of South Indian culinary traditions, ingredients, and cooking techniques.
- Strong culinary skills with the ability to prepare and present a wide range of South Indian dishes with authenticity and creativity.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and a passion for quality and consistency in food preparation and presentation.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure under pressure.
- Certification from a culinary school or equivalent training in South Indian cuisine is preferred.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
