Job Summary
The Social Worker will be responsible for ensuring the overall welfare, protection, rehabilitation, and development of children residing in the orphanage. The role involves case management, counseling, family tracing and restoration (where applicable), coordination with government departments, schools, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders, while ensuring compliance with the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, Child Protection Policies, and institutional guidelines.
Key ResponsibilitiesChild Welfare & Case Management
- Conduct social investigations and prepare Individual Care Plans (ICPs) for every child.
- Monitor children's physical, emotional, educational, and psychological development.
- Maintain updated case files, documentation, and child records.
- Support rehabilitation, restoration, adoption, foster care, and aftercare processes wherever applicable.
- Ensure every child receives appropriate care, protection, and developmental opportunities.
Counseling & Psychosocial Support
- Provide individual and group counseling to children.
- Identify behavioral, emotional, and mental health concerns and refer cases to specialists when required.
- Organize life skills, personality development, and confidence-building sessions.
Family & Community Coordination
- Coordinate with Child Welfare Committees (CWC), District Child Protection Units (DCPU), police, hospitals, schools, and NGOs.
- Build community awareness regarding child protection and child rights.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare social investigation reports, progress reports, and monthly activity reports.
- Maintain MIS and documentation as per statutory requirements.
- Ensure confidential handling of children's records.
Child Protection & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with the Juvenile Justice Act, POCSO Act, and Child Protection Policy.
- Report any child protection concerns immediately.
- Support inspections, audits, and government visits.
- Participate in child welfare meetings and institutional committees.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from a recognized university.
- 3–4 years of experience in an orphanage, Child Care Institution (CCI), NGO, or child welfare organization.
- Knowledge of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, POCSO Act, Child Rights, and Child Protection Policies.
- Excellent communication, counseling, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong report writing and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MIS reporting.
- Ability to work with children from diverse backgrounds with empathy and professionalism.
