Job Summary
The Purchase Associate – Coal & Lignite Procurement is responsible for sourcing, procuring, and coordinating the supply of coal and lignite required for manufacturing operations. The role involves vendor management, price negotiation, purchase order processing, logistics coordination, documentation, and ensuring uninterrupted fuel availability while optimizing procurement costs and maintaining quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Source coal and lignite from approved vendors based on quality, pricing, and delivery schedules.
- Obtain quotations, compare commercial offers, and negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery conditions.
- Generate Purchase Requisitions (PR) and Purchase Orders (PO) through the ERP system.
- Coordinate with suppliers for timely dispatch and delivery of materials.
- Monitor daily coal/lignite inventory levels and ensure uninterrupted fuel availability.
- Coordinate with logistics, transporters, weighbridge personnel, and warehouse teams for material movement.
- Verify invoices, delivery challans, weighment slips, and quality reports before processing payments.
- Maintain vendor database, purchase records, contracts, and procurement documentation.
- Track market trends, fuel prices, freight costs, and supplier performance.
- Resolve issues related to quality, quantity shortages, delayed deliveries, and supplier claims.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and statutory requirements.
- Prepare procurement MIS reports, purchase analysis, and cost-saving reports for management.
- Support annual rate contracts and strategic sourcing initiatives.
- Coordinate with Production, Stores, Finance, and Quality departments for smooth procurement operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Diploma/Certification in Materials Management or Supply Chain will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in procurement or purchasing.
- Experience in Coal, Lignite, Solid Fuel, Cement, Power Plant, Chemical, Steel, Paper, or Process Industries will be preferred.
Pay: ₹300,000.00 - ₹500,000.00 per year
