Job Summary
Responsible for leading the SPM machine assembly team, coordinating mechanical assembly activities, ensuring machines are built according to drawings and project schedules, and supporting testing, troubleshooting and commissioning. Similar SPM roles emphasize assembly-drawing interpretation, machine alignment, pneumatic systems, testing and coordination with design/electrical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the SPM assembly team and allocate daily work.
- Plan and monitor machine assembly activities according to project schedules.
- Read and interpret GA, assembly, fabrication and mechanical drawings.
- Ensure proper fitting, alignment and precision assembly of machine components.
- Handle assembly of linear guides, ball screws, bearings, gearboxes, motors, couplings and cylinders.
- Coordinate pneumatic and hydraulic installation activities.
- Coordinate with Design, Electrical, PLC, Purchase and Production teams.
- Monitor machine assembly progress and resolve shop-floor issues.
- Conduct machine trial runs and support troubleshooting.
- Ensure proper machine alignment, leveling and dimensional accuracy.
- Support FAT, pre-dispatch inspection and customer-site installation/commissioning.
- Identify rework and quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain assembly checklists, project status reports and daily progress reports.
- Ensure proper use of tools, measuring instruments and safety procedures.
- Train and guide junior assembly technicians/f fitters.
- Ensure projects are completed within time, quality and cost targets.
Required Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in SPM / Automation Machine Assembly.
- Good knowledge of mechanical fitting and machine building.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and BOMs.
- Knowledge of pneumatic systems and basic hydraulics.
- Knowledge of machine alignment and precision measurement.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Team handling and leadership ability.
- Good coordination with Design, Electrical and PLC teams.
- Willingness to travel for customer installation/commissioning when required.
