Job Description - Tekla Integration ExpertRole Overview
Tekla Integration Expert responsible for designing, developing, and implementing integrations within the Tekla Structures ecosystem, leveraging OpenAPI, plugins, and BIM interoperability frameworks to enable seamless data exchange and automation across engineering and enterprise systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement end-to-end integration solutions within Tekla Structures and broader BIM ecosystem
- Develop custom plugins, extensions, and automation tools using Tekla OpenAPI (.NET)
- Build and manage Universal Plugins / parametric components to enhance modeling efficiency and standardization
- Enable system integrations (ERP, analysis tools, cloud platforms, databases) using Tekla APIs
- Automate repetitive workflows such as modeling, reporting, drawing generation, and data extraction
- Collaborate with BIM, engineering, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions
- Optimize data flow across tools like Tekla Structures, Trimble Connect, and third-party applications
- Provide technical guidance on integration architecture, plugin strategy, and API usage
- Troubleshoot, debug, and maintain integration solutions and API-driven systems
- Ensure version compatibility and performance optimization across Tekla environments
Core Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in Tekla Structures (modeling + BIM ecosystem)
- Solid understanding of BIM workflows, data exchange, and interoperability standards
- Hands-on experience with:
- Tekla OpenAPI (.NET-based)
- Plugin development (model & drawing plugins, custom UI)
- Universal Plugin / parametric component creation
- Knowledge of Tekla API architecture, extensions, and automation patterns
- Strong proficiency in C / .NET development
- Experience with Visual Studio, API debugging, and code optimization
- Understanding of 3D geometry, object modeling, and CAD concepts
- Experience in:
- API-based integrations and microservices architecture
- Data exchange between Tekla and external systems (ERP, PLM, analysis tools)
- Cloud/platform integrations (Trimble Connect or equivalent)
- Knowledge of REST interfaces, file-based integrations, and interoperability mechanisms
Preferred Skills
- Experience with BIM automation / structural workflow automation
- Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD APIs or multi-CAD integrations
- Knowledge of steel detailing, fabrication workflows, and engineering standards
- Exposure to scripting (Python/PowerShell) and data formats (JSON/XML)
- Experience with Tekla Warehouse, deployment, and extension lifecycle management
Experience & Qualification
- 5+ years in Tekla Structures / BIM / integration development
- Proven experience in Tekla OpenAPI and plugin development
- Bachelor s degree in Engineering / Computer Science or equivalent
