Job Summary
The Senior Housekeeping Attendant is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas. In addition to regular housekeeping duties, the Senior Housekeeping Attendant acts as a role model for the team, assists in training new associates, monitors quality standards, and supports supervisors in daily operations to ensure exceptional guest satisfaction.
Key ResponsibilitiesGuest Room Operations
- Clean and service assigned guest rooms, suites, corridors, and service areas as per hotel standards.
- Ensure rooms are prepared according to luxury hotel brand standards before guest arrival.
- Replenish guest supplies, amenities, linens, and minibar items where applicable.
- Report maintenance defects and safety hazards immediately.
- Ensure all guest belongings are handled with care and confidentiality.
Quality Assurance
- Inspect own work thoroughly before releasing rooms.
- Ensure housekeeping standards, SOPs, and cleanliness checklists are consistently followed.
- Identify opportunities for improving room presentation and guest comfort.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and sanitation at all times.
Team Leadership
- Guide and mentor Housekeeping Attendants during daily operations.
- Assist supervisors in training new associates on cleaning procedures and SOPs.
- Demonstrate proper use of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and machinery.
- Support supervisors in allocating work and monitoring task completion.
- Promote teamwork and maintain a positive work environment.
Guest Service
- Respond courteously and promptly to guest requests.
- Handle guest complaints professionally and escalate issues when required.
- Ensure guest privacy and security are maintained at all times.
- Provide personalized service whenever possible to enhance guest satisfaction.
Linen & Inventory
- Monitor linen usage and minimize wastage.
- Maintain housekeeping carts in a clean and organized condition.
- Report shortages of linen, guest supplies, and cleaning materials.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all hotel health, safety, hygiene, and fire safety procedures.
- Comply with chemical handling guidelines and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) requirements.
- Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriately.
- Report accidents, unsafe conditions, and incidents immediately.
- Ensure compliance with hotel sustainability and environmental practices.
Coordination
- Coordinate with Front Office regarding room status updates.
- Work closely with Engineering for maintenance issues.
- Coordinate with Laundry for timely linen availability.
- Assist other departments during peak operational requirements.
Daily Duties
- Prepare housekeeping trolley before starting the shift.
- Attend departmental briefing.
- Clean and service assigned rooms.
- Update room status accurately.
- Assist in VIP room preparation.
- Conduct deep cleaning as assigned.
- Train new associates when required.
- Maintain cleanliness of pantry and service areas.
- Complete shift reports and handovers.

Required Qualifications
- Higher Secondary (Plus Two) or equivalent.
- Certificate/Diploma in Housekeeping or Hotel Management preferred.
Experience
- 3–5 years of housekeeping experience in a 4-star or 5-star hotel.
- Minimum 1 year experience in a senior housekeeping or mentor role preferred.
Skills & Competencies

- Ability to lift up to 15–20 kg safely.

The Senior Housekeeping Attendant may:
- Guide and coach Housekeeping Attendants on operational procedures.
- Recommend maintenance work for guest rooms.
- Report quality concerns and operational issues to supervisors.
- Assist in on-the-job training and orientation of new associates.
- Escalate guest concerns requiring supervisory intervention.
