Job Summary
Operates machines and production equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with quality and productivity requirements within a manufacturing environment. Responsible for operating, monitoring, and supporting machining and production processes with limited supervision while adhering to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards, quality procedures, and continuous improvement practices. This role requires working in rotational shifts based on business requirements.
Key Responsibilities Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE)
- Stop work and immediately report any unsafe conditions or major injury hazards.
- Report work-related injuries, illnesses, incidents, hazards, or near misses.
- Follow Cummins HSE standards, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain safe work practices.
- Promote a strong safety culture by supporting team safety initiatives and looking out for others.
- Recognize environmental impacts of work activities and minimize negative environmental effects.
- Participate in HSE training and safety improvement initiatives.
Quality
- Follow standard work instructions, process documentation, and quality procedures including SPC, poka-yoke, and visual standards.
- Perform quality inspections and identify non-conforming materials or process deviations.
- Raise issues proactively to minimize quality risks, rejections, and production losses.
- Support improvement of Right First Time (RFT) and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) performance.
- Maintain process discipline and ensure qualitative output within defined standards.
Production & Machine Operations
- Operate CNC and manual/automated production equipment to manufacture and assemble products according to specifications and customer requirements.
- Operate machining equipment including Grinding, Turning, EDM, AFM, and Special Purpose Machines (SPM).
- Perform machine setup activities including fixture loading/unloading, alignment, and tool offset setting.
- Work at required cycle times and achieve defined production targets.
- Perform basic CNC programming support and machine operation adjustments.
- Conduct routine machine cleaning, operator care, and preventive maintenance activities.
- Troubleshoot basic mechanical and machine-related issues and escalate when required.
- Support bottleneck machine operations to maximize machine utilization during break times and production hours.
- Maintain 5S standards and cleanliness of machines and surrounding work areas.
- Support production continuity by assisting other lines or functions as required by business needs.
- Follow tasks and operational instructions provided by Team Leaders and Managers.
Continuous Improvement & Teamwork
- Participate actively in Kaizen, FIFI, Q-Pro, TPM, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with peers, skilled trades, maintenance teams, and support staff to identify equipment issues and improve processes.
- Support preventive and process maintenance activities to improve machine reliability and uptime.
- Communicate effectively with assigned teams and cross-functional support functions.
- Complete required technical training and professional development activities.
- Adhere to shift schedules, break timings, attendance requirements, and workforce planning processes.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Engineering or equivalent technical qualification preferred.
- High school diploma, secondary education certificate, or equivalent experience as permitted by applicable regulations.
- Additional technical certifications in CNC machining, manufacturing, or industrial operations are advantageous.
Education, Licenses & Certifications
- Diploma in Engineering or equivalent technical qualification preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
- Additional certifications in CNC operations, machining, manufacturing systems, or industrial safety are advantageous.

Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience operating CNC machines including Grinding, Turning, EDM, AFM, and SPM machines.
- Knowledge of machine setup, fixture alignment, loading/unloading, and tool offset settings.
- Basic understanding of CNC programming and machining processes.
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting and machine maintenance skills.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, production standards, and quality inspection methods.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance, 5S, OEE, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in machining or manufacturing operations preferred.
