Position Overview
We are looking for Field Geologists to support mineral exploration and geological field programs across Africa.
The successful candidates will be involved in geophysical surveys, geological studies, geological mapping, bulk sampling, demarcation and field-based mineral exploration activities, with a primary focus on Gold and Base Metals.
Practical experience in Gold Geology is mandatory.
Candidates must be comfortable working in remote exploration locations and be willing to travel and undertake extended field assignments across African countries.
Key ResponsibilitiesGeological Exploration
- Conduct geological reconnaissance and field investigations for mineral exploration projects.
- Carry out detailed geological mapping of exploration areas.
- Identify lithology, geological structures, alteration zones and mineralization.
- Identify and document gold-bearing zones and other mineralized structures.
- Conduct geological studies and interpret field observations.
- Assist in identifying and evaluating prospective areas for gold and base-metal mineralization.
- Integrate geological, geophysical, geochemical and sampling data to support exploration decisions.
Gold Exploration
Gold geology experience is mandatory for this position.
Candidates should have practical exposure to:
- Gold-bearing geological formations.
- Gold mineralization and alteration systems.
- Identification of quartz veins and associated mineralization.
- Structural controls on gold mineralization.
- Surface geological mapping for gold exploration.
- Gold-focused sampling programs.
- Interpretation of geological and mineralization patterns.
- Reconnaissance and prospecting for gold deposits.
Experience with different types of gold deposits and geological settings will be an advantage.
Base-Metal Exploration
- Participate in exploration programs targeting base metals.
- Conduct geological mapping and sampling in prospective base-metal areas.
- Identify mineralized zones and geological structures associated with base-metal deposits.
- Support geological interpretation and exploration target generation.
- Assist in integrating geophysical and geological information.
Experience with copper, lead, zinc, nickel, cobalt or other base metals will be an advantage.
Geophysical Surveys
- Participate in geophysical survey programs.
- Assist with field preparation, survey setup and data collection.
- Work alongside geophysicists and survey teams.
- Assist in identifying and marking geophysical anomalies.
- Correlate geophysical anomalies with geological observations.
- Support follow-up geological investigations of prospective anomalies.
- Maintain accurate field records and survey documentation.
Experience with geophysical methods such as IP, resistivity, magnetic, electromagnetic or other exploration techniques will be an advantage.
Geological Mapping
- Conduct reconnaissance and detailed geological mapping.
- Map lithology, structures, alteration and mineralization.
- Record geological observations accurately.
- Collect GPS/DGPS coordinates for geological features and sampling locations.
- Prepare geological maps, field sketches and geological sections.
- Identify areas requiring additional investigation.
- Integrate geological mapping with geophysical and sampling results.
Bulk Sampling
- Participate in bulk sampling programs for mineral exploration.
- Identify and demarcate sampling locations.
- Supervise and monitor bulk sample collection.
- Ensure samples are correctly labelled, documented and stored.
- Maintain accurate sample registers and tracking records.
- Coordinate sample transportation and submission for laboratory analysis.
- Ensure sampling activities follow approved project procedures and QA/QC requirements.
Demarcation & DGPS
Candidates should be comfortable using DGPS in field conditions.
Responsibilities may include:
- Demarcation of exploration areas and sampling locations.
- Establishing and recording survey points.
- Recording accurate geographic coordinates.
- Marking geological features, boundaries and mineralized zones.
- DGPS-based geological mapping.
- Coordinate verification and field navigation.
- Maintaining accurate field coordinate records.
- Supporting survey teams during exploration activities.
Hands-on DGPS experience is highly preferred.
Sampling & Field Data Collection
- Conduct rock, soil, sediment and other geological sampling.
- Ensure correct sample identification and documentation.
- Maintain sample registers and field databases.
- Follow appropriate sampling and QA/QC procedures.
- Record geological observations, coordinates, photographs and field measurements.
- Review laboratory assay results and correlate them with field observations.
- Maintain accurate and organized exploration records.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Applied Geology, Geological Engineering, Earth Sciences, Geophysics or a related discipline.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant field experience.
- Gold geology / gold exploration experience is mandatory.
- Practical experience in geological fieldwork.
- Experience in geological mapping and mineral exploration.
- Willingness to work in remote locations.
- Willingness to travel internationally across Africa.
- Ability to work in challenging field environments.

- Basic GIS and spatial-data knowledge.

- Good Microsoft Excel skills.
Knowledge of ArcGIS, QGIS, AutoCAD, Surpac, Leapfrog, Micromine or similar software will be an advantage.
Field & International Deployment
This is a predominantly field-based position.
The successful candidate may be required to:

The ideal candidate is a hands-on Field Geologist with at least 1 year of mineral exploration experience and proven Gold Geology experience, who can independently participate in geological mapping, geological studies, geophysical surveys, bulk sampling and demarcation, and is comfortable using DGPS for field data collection and positioning.
Experience in base-metal exploration will be an additional advantage.
The candidate must be willing to undertake international field assignments across Africa, particularly in Zambia, South Sudan, Tanzania and Ethiopia.
Pay: From ₹50,000.00 per month
