Junior Physiotherapist – Job DescriptionPosition Summary
The Junior Physiotherapist assists in providing physiotherapy services to patients under the guidance and supervision of senior physiotherapists. The role involves assessing patient needs, implementing treatment plans, monitoring progress, and supporting patients in achieving optimal physical function and mobility.
Key Responsibilities1. Patient Assessment
- Assist in evaluating patients' physical conditions, mobility, strength, and functional limitations.
- Collect and document patient histories and relevant medical information.
- Support senior physiotherapists in conducting assessments and developing treatment goals.
2. Treatment Implementation
- Assist patients in performing prescribed therapeutic exercises and rehabilitation programs.
- Apply basic physiotherapy techniques and interventions as directed.
- Monitor patient responses during treatment sessions and report progress or concerns.
3. Patient Education
- Educate patients on prescribed home exercise programs.
- Provide guidance on posture correction, injury prevention, and healthy movement practices.
- Encourage patient participation and adherence to treatment plans.
4. Use of Equipment and Modalities
- Prepare and maintain physiotherapy equipment and treatment areas.
- Assist in the application of therapeutic modalities such as heat therapy, cold therapy, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation under supervision.
- Ensure safe and proper use of rehabilitation equipment.
5. Documentation and Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate and timely patient treatment records.
- Document treatment sessions, patient progress, and outcomes.
- Assist in updating patient files and reports according to clinic or hospital policies.
6. Collaboration and Team Support
- Work closely with senior physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Participate in case discussions, departmental meetings, and patient reviews.
- Refer concerns or complex cases to supervising physiotherapists.
7. Professional Development
- Stay updated on current physiotherapy practices and evidence-based treatment approaches.
- Participate in training programs, workshops, and continuing education activities.
- Adhere to professional standards, ethical guidelines, and organizational policies.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy (BPT).
- Valid professional registration/licensure as required by local regulations.
- Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and rehabilitation principles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Compassion, patience, and a patient-centered approach to care.
- Good organizational and documentation skills.
