Job Purpose
The Nursing Superintendent is responsible for the overall planning, administration, supervision, quality assurance, and continuous improvement of all nursing services within the hospital. The Nursing Superintendent shall ensure the delivery of safe, ethical, patient-centred, and evidence-based nursing care while maintaining compliance with NABH, QCI, statutory requirements, and hospital policies.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Nursing Administration
- Plan, organize, direct, and supervise all nursing activities.
- Ensure adequate nursing manpower in all departments.
- Prepare and approve duty rosters.
- Allocate staff according to patient acuity.
- Monitor nursing productivity.
- Ensure proper shift handover.
- Maintain nursing discipline.
2. Patient Care & Clinical Quality
- Ensure high-quality nursing care.
- Conduct regular ward rounds.
- Monitor patient safety indicators.
- Ensure proper patient assessment.
- Monitor medication administration.
- Ensure proper documentation.
- Review nursing care plans.
- Monitor patient satisfaction.
3. Clinical Supervision
- Supervise ICU
- Emergency

Conduct surprise rounds during:
- Morning Shift
- Evening Shift
- Night Shift
4. Infection Prevention & Control
Ensure compliance with:
- Hand Hygiene
- PPE usage

- Needle Stick Injury Protocol
- Sterilization practices
- Linen management
- Housekeeping coordination
Coordinate with Infection Control Nurse.
5. Nursing Documentation
Ensure accurate documentation of:

- Intake & Output
- ICU Records
- Consent Forms
- Incident Reports
- Transfer Notes
- Discharge Documentation
6. Human Resource Management
Responsible for:
- Recruitment of nursing staff

7. Staff Discipline
Maintain discipline regarding:

The Nursing Superintendent is authorized to:

Qualification
Essential
- M.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. Nursing (with relevant experience)
- Valid State Nursing Council Registration
Preferred
- B. Sc / M.Sc. Nursing
- NABH / Quality Certification
Experience
- Minimum 6–10 years of clinical nursing experience.
- Minimum 3–5 years in a supervisory or nursing leadership role.
- Experience in NABH-accredited hospitals preferred.

Working Hours
- 48 hours per week (or as per hospital policy).
- 1 Night Duty in a week.
- Must be available for emergency calls, inspections, audits, and administrative meetings beyond regular working hours whenever required.

The Nursing Superintendent shall:

Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹70,000.00 per month
Work Location: In person
