Contribute to design, development and validation of Android and iOS mobile software applications for Abbott’s Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) division, under a disciplined product development process that meets CRM’s quality standards and process and regulatory agency requirements.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
-
Perform design, coding, unit testing, integration testing and expert-user testing of software applications on Mobile platforms, including Android & iOS, and support product verification and validation testing.

Understand product requirements and use cases and lead software development for one or more features in the areas including but not limited to - technical requirements development, interface specifications, component architecture and detailed design, prototyping, implementation, identify development test strategy, development of unit and component test design, unit and component test cases, test procedures and scripts, and test execution.

Perform analysis and defect repair of one or more issues in the applications, as well as perform root cause analysis and identify corrective and preventive actions to address current and future issues.

Participate in development or enhancements of mobile architecture, platform and tools for development of mobile applications at various layers including user interface, communication layer, network interface and performance.

Participate in authoring and/or reviewing one or more project deliverables such as analyses, specifications, design, code, test/tool procedures, processes and procedures ensuring feasibility, thoroughness, clarity, correctness and accuracy, and provide relevant and critical feedback.

Collaborate effectively with stakeholders within and outside the organization to resolve technical issues with effective solutions.

Demonstrate an understanding of dependencies with variations across phone platforms, OS and Application Interface (API) versions, etc. and ensuring compatibilities and compliances across them.

Stay abreast of the latest developments in Mobile software technologies including the Mobile Operating System (OS) platform updates, deployment strategies, cloud interfaces, Cybersecurity, user interface and test environments.

Demonstrate the capability to understand and balance market trends, user (patient and healthcare provider) needs and experiences with knowledge of emerging technologies (such as AI-ML, IoT, Cloud, etc.).

Demonstrate familiarity with Agile principles and development environment, including the management of a continuous integration development pipeline to ensure quick and timely deliveries to internal and external stakeholders.

Demonstrate sound communication skills and judgment in day-to-day tasks, decision-making and productivity.

Develop medical device software in a regulated environment by following strict design controls procedures (e.g., IEC62304).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related engineering field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Minimum 5 years of industry experience in Android and iOS mobile software development.

Proficiency in Android and iOS mobile application development with .NET Xamarin/MAUI, mobile software architecture and design patterns such as Model View ViewModel (MVVM).

Proficiency in one or more programming languages: C#, Java, Swift, Kotlin, C++.

Knowledge of industry best-practices in architecture and design, test management tools, cybersecurity and performance.

Technical competency with digital connectivity, storage and security solutions, such as HTTPS, TLS, SQL/Postgres data storage, AES encryption, etc.
- Strong decision-making and risk analysis skills.

Experience working with cross-functional teams such as Program Management, Business/Marketing, and Quality to deliver project commitments.

Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly to upper management and other stakeholders in different functions at various levels.

Preferred
- Master’s degree in computer science or a related engineering field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Work experience in development of regulated mobile applications in healthcare or other highly regulated industries (telecommunication, aviation, public-safety, etc.).

Experience in Azure cloud services (e.g., Azure IoT hub).

Experience with mobile software testing and usage of tools for execution, memory and performance management and troubleshooting, such as device and application logging, crash analysis, etc.
- Experience with mobile application building and deployment for internal and external use, namely TestFlight, App Center, Firebase, Google Play Store, iOS app store, etc.

Technical proficiency with one or more cloud services such as Cloud (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform).

Technical proficiency with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) interface and protocol.

Familiarity with GenAI concepts including prompts, agentic framework, context-generation, etc.
