Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Marine Engineer – Hull & Outfit with strong hands-on experience in shipbuilding and shipyard projects, particularly in hull fabrication, erection, and outfitting activities. The candidate will be responsible for supervising and coordinating ship construction activities while ensuring quality, safety, and timely completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise hull fabrication, block assembly, erection, fit-up, welding and alignment activities.
- Manage hull outfitting works including foundations, platforms, ladders, handrails, walkways, doors, hatches, manholes and structural supports.
- Read and interpret GA drawings, structural drawings, fabrication drawings and outfitting drawings.
- Coordinate with fabrication, welding, piping, mechanical, electrical, QA/QC and safety teams.
- Monitor subcontractors, manpower, materials and daily work progress.
- Ensure work is carried out as per approved drawings, specifications, class requirements and shipyard standards.
- Coordinate with Class Surveyors, Owners' Representatives and Consultants for inspections and approvals.
- Conduct inspections related to fit-up, welding, dimensions, alignment and installation.
- Prepare daily progress reports and maintain project documentation.
- Identify and resolve technical/site issues and minimise rework.
- Ensure compliance with shipyard HSE and quality requirements.
- Support testing, inspection, punch-list clearance and final handover activities.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in shipbuilding/ship repair.
- Strong experience specifically in Hull & Outfit activities.
- Good knowledge of hull construction, steel fabrication, block erection and marine outfitting.
- Ability to understand and interpret shipbuilding and technical drawings.
- Experience working in shipyards, marine construction or vessel-building projects.
- Good manpower, subcontractor and site coordination skills.
- Strong communication, problem-solving and reporting abilities.
Preferred Candidates
Candidates with experience in commercial vessels, naval vessels, offshore vessels, ship repair or marine fabrication projects will be preferred.
