About the Role
KPC is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer with a deep foundation in network architecture to join our infrastructure team. In this role, you will be the bridge between core systems administration and network engineering. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing our enterprise-grade infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and scalability across our infrastructure environments.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who understands how packets move across a network just as well as understanding server virtualization, cloud networking constructs, and infrastructure automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Architecture: Design, deploy, and maintain scalable systems and network infrastructure to support KPC’s growing operational needs.
- Network Engineering: Manage and optimize core networking components, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs (e.g., Fortinet, Palo Alto, Juniper, F5).
- Systems Administration: Administer and tune enterprise server environments (Linux/Windows) and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM).
- Security & Compliance: Implement network segmentation, zero-trust network access (ZTNA), and secure protocols. Collaborate with the security team to remediate vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with [SOC2 / PCI-DSS / HIPAA].
- Monitoring & Observability: Configure and maintain advanced network and systems monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, SolarWinds, Prometheus, Splunk) to proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks.
- Tier 3 Support & Mentorship: Act as the ultimate escalation point for complex system and network outages. Mentor junior engineers and document architectural standards and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 2 years in a senior role focusing heavily on network engineering.
- Network Protocols: Deep, packet-level understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, IPSec, DNS, and DHCP.
- Systems Mastery: Strong proficiency in administrating Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS) and/or Windows Server environments.
- Hardware/Vendor Expertise: Proven hands-on experience with enterprise networking gear (e.g., Cisco, Extreme, Juniper) and Next-Gen Firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet).
- Communication Skills: Ability to translate complex technical networking and systems concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
- Active industry certifications such as CCNP/CCIE, JNCIP, AWS Certified Advanced Networking a plus.
- Experience with SD-WAN technologies and deployment.
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
