About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Paralegal to join our growing law firm in Kolkata. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of legal procedures, excellent drafting and research skills, and the ability to independently support advocates across various practice areas. The candidate should be highly organized, proactive, and capable of handling multiple matters simultaneously while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research using online legal databases, statutes, case laws, and judicial precedents.
- Draft, review, and proofread legal documents, including notices, agreements, petitions, affidavits, applications, replies, written statements, and legal opinions.
- Assist advocates in preparing case files for court hearings, arbitrations, and tribunals.
- Coordinate filing of matters before various courts, tribunals, and government authorities.
- Maintain case files, legal records, and documentation in both physical and digital formats.
- Track court dates, limitation periods, deadlines, and ensure timely compliance.
- Liaise with clients, court clerks, advocates, government offices, and other stakeholders regarding procedural requirements.
- Assist in due diligence exercises, document verification, and compliance-related assignments.
- Prepare case summaries, legal briefs, chronologies, and evidence compilations.
- Support advocates in client meetings by preparing documentation and follow-up action points.
- Ensure confidentiality and accuracy in handling sensitive legal information.
- Assist in office administration related to legal matters and maintain an efficient document management system.
- Coordinating with Clients for their ongoing delivery and procedural activities.
Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B.) or an equivalent legal qualification preferred. Graduates with substantial paralegal experience may also be considered.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Paralegal in a law firm, litigation chamber, or corporate legal department.
- Strong knowledge of Indian legal procedures and court processes.
- Excellent legal drafting and legal research skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and PDF editing tools.
- Experience using legal research databases such as SCC Online, Manupatra, or equivalent platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge of Bengali and Hindi will be an added advantage.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while effectively supporting a team of advocates.
