SatSure is a global Earth intelligence company headquartered in India. Founded in 2017, SatSure owns the full Earth observation data value chain – from the upstream payload infrastructure to the foundational deep-tech and AI layers, to the downstream decision intelligence solutions. We work with private companies and government bodies across Agri-tech, Agri-banking, forestry, critical infrastructure, and aviation. Through our subsidiary KaleidEO, SatSure is building multispectral payloads for high-definition space imagery with edge computing capabilities, powering both sovereign and commercial applications.
Role:
As a Software Development Engineer 2, you will design, build, and operate full-stack software that powers SatSure's geospatial products. You will own features and services end-to-end from React frontends to FastAPI services to PostgreSQL data layers running on AWS - and work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, data engineers, geospatial analysts, and other software engineers, to ship reliable software that runs at scale in production.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Feature Ownership: Take features from design through deployment and support - scoping the work, breaking it down, and shipping it with minimal hand-holding.
-
Full-Stack Development: Build responsive React frontends, robust FastAPI backend services, and well-modelled PostgreSQL data layers, delivering cohesive, maintainable code that enhances the user experience.
-
Backend & API Engineering: Write clean, well-documented REST/async APIs in FastAPI, applying established patterns for authentication/authorization, pagination, validation, and error handling.
-
Frontend Engineering: Develop modular, reusable React components (state management, routing, code-splitting), working with product and design to translate requirements into intuitive interfaces.
-
Data Layer & Persistence: Write and tune schemas, indexes, and queries in PostgreSQL (including geospatial workloads via PostGIS) for correctness and good performance under real traffic.
-
Cloud & Infrastructure: Deploy and run services on AWS using managed services, containers, and infrastructure-as-code, with attention to cost, security, and observability.
-
Performance & Debugging: Investigate and fix bottlenecks across the stack - frontend rendering, API latency, slow queries, caching - using profiling, indexing, and query optimisation.
-
Quality & Reliability: Write automated tests, work within CI/CD pipelines, add meaningful monitoring and alerting, and participate in on-call and incident follow-ups for the services you own.
-
Design Participation: Contribute to design discussions and technical proposals, participate in sprint planning, retrospectives, and design reviews, and communicate progress and trade-offs clearly.
-
Peer Support: Give constructive code reviews, help onboard new joiners, and share what you learn with the team.
-
Collaboration & Communication: Work with product and cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions, communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
-
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
-
3-6 years of software development experience, with services you have shipped and supported in production.
-
Experience building and operating web applications at scale, with an understanding of availability, latency, and failure handling.
-
Solid full-stack engineering skills across React (frontend), FastAPI / Python (backend), and PostgreSQL (data layer).
-
Hands-on experience building applications on AWS (compute, storage, networking, managed databases, containers).
-
Working knowledge of API design, relational databases, caching, and asynchronous patterns.
-
Good fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, testing, CI/CD, and observability.
-
Familiarity with Scrum or Agile frameworks such as Kanban.
-
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work through ambiguity with support from the team.
-
Exposure to GIS / geospatial development - PostGIS and spatial queries, geospatial formats/standards (GeoJSON, Shapefile, KML, GeoParquet, STAC), and libraries such as GDAL, Rasterio, GeoPandas, Shapely.
-
Familiarity with mapping/visualisation libraries (Mapbox, MapLibre, Leaflet).
-
Exposure to data engineering tooling such as Apache Airflow or Apache Spark, and lakehouse formats like Apache Iceberg.
-
Experience with containers, Kubernetes, or Terraform.
-
Interest or early experience in building AI / LLM-powered applications - RAG, tool/function calling, prompt engineering, or agentic workflows.
The role of a Software Development Engineer 2 is key to building and scaling the platforms that turn earth observation data into accessible insights across applications including agriculture, infrastructure, climate action, urban planning, and environmental monitoring.
