Job Summary:
A Junior Merchandiser assists in planning, sourcing, and coordinating the flow of products from suppliers to retail outlets or clients. They support senior merchandisers in managing product assortments, purchase orders, and inventory, ensuring timely delivery and profitability. This role is often entry-level and requires good organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Coordination:
- Assist in the selection of products based on market trends, customer preferences, and company strategy.
- Work with design and production teams to develop new products or collections.
- Order Management:
- Prepare and follow up on purchase orders (POs) with suppliers.
- Track order status to ensure timely delivery.
- Vendor & Supplier Liaison:
- Communicate with suppliers regarding product specifications, availability, and lead times.
- Assist in resolving supply chain or production issues.
- Inventory & Stock Analysis:
- Monitor stock levels and assist in inventory planning.
- Analyze sales data to forecast demand and reduce overstock or stock outs.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain records of purchase orders, invoices, and shipment details.
- Prepare reports for senior merchandisers or management on sales trends, stock levels, and vendor performance.
- Market Research:
- Support market research to identify competitor products, pricing strategies, and emerging trends.
- Collect customer feedback and suggest product improvements.
Required Skills:
- Basic knowledge of merchandising or retail operations.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Attention to detail, especially in documentation and product specifications.
- Good communication and negotiation skills.
- Analytical skills to study trends, sales, and inventory.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) or merchandising software.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, Retail Management, or a related field.
- Internship or 0–2 years of experience in merchandising, retail, or supply chain is often preferred.
