Vendor Development Engineer (Forging & Machining)
Job Location: Gondal / Rajkot, Gujarat
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and develop new vendors for forging, machining, heat treatment, and coating/finishing processes
- Evaluate vendor capabilities including machinery, technical expertise, quality systems, and production capacity
- Conduct vendor audits and manage the vendor approval process
- Perform cost analysis and handle price negotiations
- Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services
- Resolve quality issues such as rejections and defects, and implement corrective actions
- Develop alternate vendors to minimize supply risk and ensure continuity
- Monitor and evaluate vendor performance based on quality, delivery, and cost parameters
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing vendors
- Ensure vendors comply with company quality standards and specifications
- Coordinate with internal departments like production, quality, and purchase teams
- Track and improve vendor lead time and responsiveness
- Support new product development by sourcing suitable vendors
- Review and understand technical drawings and ensure vendor compliance
- Implement cost reduction and value engineering (VA/VE) initiatives
- Maintain proper documentation of vendor records and agreements
- Analyze market trends to identify cost-effective sourcing options
- Follow up regularly with vendors for order status and commitments
- Ensure smooth supply chain flow to avoid production delays
- Participate in vendor performance review meetings and improvement plans
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of forging and machining processes
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Basic knowledge of materials such as carbon steel, alloy steel, etc.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Problem-solving mindset and analytical approach
Qualification:
- Diploma / BE Mechanical / Production
Experience:
- 2 to 5 years (Forging / Machining industry preferred)
