Job Summary
The Quality Control Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all PEB structural components are manufactured, inspected, and delivered in accordance with approved drawings, customer specifications, and applicable quality standards. The role involves inspecting raw materials, monitoring fabrication processes, verifying dimensional accuracy, and maintaining quality documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect incoming raw materials and verify compliance with approved specifications.
- Conduct in-process inspections during cutting, drilling, welding, fitting, and assembly.
- Ensure fabrication complies with approved drawings, tolerances, and quality standards.
- Inspect welded joints visually and coordinate NDT (if applicable).
- Verify dimensions using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, steel tapes, and gauges.
- Monitor blasting, painting, and coating quality, including DFT (Dry Film Thickness) measurements.
- Prepare and maintain inspection reports, quality records, and checklists.
- Identify non-conforming products and raise NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports).
- Coordinate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) with production teams.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality management procedures.
- Assist customer inspectors and third-party inspection agencies during inspections.
- Ensure calibration status of measuring instruments is maintained.
- Participate in internal quality audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor packing quality before dispatch to ensure components are protected and properly identified.
- Promote workplace safety and follow all company HSE requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering.
- Certification in Welding Inspection (preferred).
- Knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001) is an advantage.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in Quality Control within a PEB, structural steel fabrication, or heavy engineering industry.
- Fresh graduates may be considered for trainee positions.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of PEB fabrication and structural steel manufacturing.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and fabrication details.
- Knowledge of welding standards and inspection techniques.
- Familiarity with dimensional inspection tools and measuring instruments.
- Basic understanding of NDT methods (UT, MT, PT).
- Knowledge of painting inspection and DFT measurement.
- Proficiency in MS Office for reporting and documentation.
