Role Objectives
To manage and execute the complete rhodium plating process for gold jewellery, ensuring superior surface finish, uniform coating thickness, high-quality aesthetics, and adherence to production timelines. The role is responsible for maintaining plating quality standards, minimizing rework, and ensuring safe handling of chemicals while supporting bulk and customized order execution.
Role Responsibilities
Rhodium Operation
· Execute end-to-end rhodium plating process for all jewellery categories including rings, bangles, necklaces, earrings, and customized pieces.
· Plan daily plating activities based on production schedules and dispatch priorities.
· Ensure proper pre-plating preparation including ultrasonic cleaning, buffing, degreasing, and activation.
· Maintain correct bath parameters such as temperature, voltage, current density, and chemical concentration.
· Ensure uniform rhodium thickness as per company quality standards.
· Handle white gold, yellow gold masking, and selective rhodium plating requirements.
Chemical & Bath Management
· Prepare and maintain rhodium solution, replenishment cycles, and filtration processes.
· Monitor chemical usage and control wastage of precious rhodium metal.
· Maintain records of bath life, consumption, and recovery processes.
· Ensure proper precious metal recovery from drag-out and rinsing.
Quality Control
· Inspect jewellery before and after plating to ensure scratch-free, stain-free, and high-lustre finish.
· Monitor adhesion, color consistency, and durability of plating.
· Identify defects such as burning, patchiness, peeling, or dull finish and take corrective action.
· Work closely with QC team to reduce rejection and rework percentage.
Tool Handling & Maintenance
· Operate rectifiers, plating tanks, ultrasonic machines, and drying equipment.
· Ensure preventive maintenance of plating equipment.
· Maintain clean-room discipline to avoid contamination.
· Follow all safety norms for handling acids, chemicals, and electrical equipment.
· Use PPE and maintain proper ventilation and waste disposal systems.
· Ensure environmental and regulatory compliance in plating operations.
Production Target Achievement:
- Complete assigned daily production targets within timelines while maintaining quality standards.
Process Coordination
- Ensure proper handover of finished ornament to respective department with correct labelling and documentation
Documentation & Reporting
· Maintain daily production logs, rejection reports, chemical consumption records, and recovery data.
· Provide plating status updates against order timelines
Minimum Qualification
· Graduate in Chemical
Desired Qualification
· Diploma / Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or Jewellery Manufacturing Technology.
· Certification in Electroplating Technology or Precious Metal Finishing is preferred.
Experience
· 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in rhodium plating within a gold jewellery manufacturing environment.
· Experience handling high-value jewellery, designer pieces, and export-quality finishing preferred.
