## Job Responsibilities
### Technical Leadership & Architecture
* **Core Development:** Lead end-to-end development of LifeAsia / Group Asia modules using COBOL and mainframe technologies.
* **Engineering Guidance:** Guide the engineering team technically on modern technologies, security protocols, coding standards, architecture patterns, and artifact creation.
* **Architecture Ownership:** Maintain complete ownership of architecture, solution design, and legacy system constraints/dependencies.
* **Modernization & Improvement:** Anticipate technology risks, establish contingency plans, and suggest continuous improvements to the existing landscape.
### Requirement Analysis & Delivery
* **Business Translation:** Collaborate with business users to translate use cases into clear, complete, and correct technical requirements.
* **Execution Excellence:** Implement requirements as per the agreed scope, schedule, and quality, delivering them as multi-tier web solutions.
* **Collaboration:** Work closely with cross-functional technology teams (Infrastructure, Applications, and Data) to ensure alignment with business goals.
### Governance & Quality Assurance
* **Code Quality:** Write and review high-quality, efficient, and maintainable COBOL, JCL, and VSAM/DB2 programs while enforcing strict coding standards.
* **Review Cycles:** Continuously review team deliverables, including design documents, code, pipelines, deployments, and project documentation.
* **Testing Support:** Ensure robust unit testing and provide comprehensive support for System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
## Preferred Credentials & Competencies
### Domain & Technical Expertise
* **Insurance Domain:** Deep knowledge of the Life Insurance policy lifecycle, product configuration, claims/billing workflows, and group insurance schemes.
* **Mainframe Stack:** Strong hands-on expertise in **COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and DB2** development environments.
* **Core Platforms:** Extensive mandatory experience with **LifeAsia** or **Group Asia**.
* **Tooling & DevOps:** Familiarity with batch scheduling tools (e.g., Control-M), version control (Git, SVN), API integration (REST, MQ, file interfaces), and basic DevOps practices.
### Leadership & Soft Skills
* **Management:** Proven track record in stakeholder management, delivery accountability, and technical mentoring.
* **Problem Solving:** Ability to break down complex requirements into modular, scalable solutions and translate complex business rules into system logic.
