AutoCAD designers and draftsmen have many responsibilities, including:
- Design: Create designs from scratch, present rough drafts, and finalize AutoCAD models and drawings
- Communication: Collaborate with designers and engineers, and communicate designs to builders, managers, and other team members
- Attention to detail: Check measurements and dimensions, ensure lines and shapes are correct, and verify technical requirements
- Accuracy and precision: Prepare, review, and redline drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Time management: Deliver work on time to avoid increasing the budget or delaying the client's timeline
- Teamwork: Work as part of a team to keep projects on track
- Documentation: Create and maintain a library of drawing files, documentation, and records
- Safety and standards: Ensure product designs meet required safety and structural standards
AutoCAD designers and draftsmen should also have proficiency in CAD software, familiarity with 3D modeling tools, good math skills, and a strong understanding of building processes.
