Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Commis II – Continental Chef to assist in the preparation and presentation of Continental cuisine while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and kitchen operations. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in breakfast preparation, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, pasta, pizzas, grills, and buffet setups.
Key ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation & Cooking
- Prepare and cook Continental dishes as per standard recipes and presentation guidelines.
- Handle mise en place for daily operations.
- Prepare breakfast items, sandwiches, burgers, wraps, salads, soups, pasta, pizzas, and grilled dishes.
- Assist in buffet preparation and replenishment during service.
- Ensure consistency in taste, portion size, and plating standards.
- Support special events, group meals, and outdoor catering when required.
Kitchen Operations
- Maintain adequate stock levels of ingredients and report shortages.
- Follow FIFO (First In First Out) and proper food storage procedures.
- Assist in receiving, checking, and storing supplies.
- Ensure proper utilization of ingredients to minimize wastage.
- Maintain recipe standards and portion control.
Hygiene & Safety
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, refrigerators, workstations, and storage areas.
- Follow FSSAI food safety standards and company SOPs.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of perishable items.
- Maintain personal hygiene and grooming standards at all times.
Team Coordination
- Work closely with Head Chef, Sous Chef, and other kitchen staff.
- Assist junior team members and trainees when required.
- Coordinate with service staff to ensure timely dispatch of orders.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude during service hours.
Skills & Requirements
- 1–3 years of experience as a Commis Chef in a café, restaurant, hotel, or resort.
- Good knowledge of Continental cuisine.
- Hands-on experience in:
- Breakfast preparation
- Salads and soups
- Sandwiches and burgers
- Pasta and pizza
- Grills and plated meals
- Buffet setup and execution
- Basic knowledge of food costing and inventory management.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Team player with good communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in boutique hotels, cafés, hostels, or resorts.
- Knowledge of bakery and dessert preparation will be an added advantage.
- Familiarity with wood-fired or stone-baked pizza preparation is a plus.
Working Conditions
- 9-hour duty shift including meal break.
- Weekly off as per roster.
- Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and peak seasons.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: ₹16,000 – ₹22,000 per month (based on experience and skills)
