2. Tooling Selection and Setup
- Select the punch (upper tool) for the needed profile.
- Select the die (lower tool) with the correct V-opening.
- Use the rule of eight for standard air bending.
- Align the tooling precisely along the center bed.
- Secure all clamps tightly to prevent tools from shifting. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
3. Machine Programming (CNC Control)
- Input material specs like plate thickness and tensile strength.
- Enter bend parameters including target angles and lengths.
- Configure the back gauge axes for automated part positioning.
- Set the stroke depth to control how far the ram descends.
- Establish mute points for rapid descent transitions to pressing
4. Workpiece Positioning and Bending
- Place the blank flat onto the lower V-die.
- Push the metal firmly against the back gauge fingers.
- Keep fingers away from the immediate pinch point zone.
- Depress the foot switch to initiate the downward ram movement
