Job Summary
The Manager – Operation Theatre is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and management of operation theatre services to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. The role includes supervision of OT staff, maintenance of equipment, compliance with clinical protocols, infection control, and optimal utilization of OT resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operation theatre activities and scheduling.
- Ensure smooth coordination between surgeons, anesthetists, nursing staff, and support departments.
- Monitor OT utilization and optimize theatre efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control protocols.
- Supervise OT nursing and technical staff, including training and performance management.
- Maintain availability and functionality of surgical instruments and equipment.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and calibration of OT equipment.
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage OT inventory, consumables, and vendor coordination.
- Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and support patient safety initiatives.
- Prepare operational reports, audits, and performance metrics.
- Participate in accreditation activities and quality improvement programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing / Allied Health Sciences.
- Master's Degree in Hospital Administration (preferred).
- Certification or training in Operation Theatre Management is an advantage.
Experience
- 5–10 years of experience in Operation Theatre operations.
- Minimum 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial role within a hospital setting.
Skills Required
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Knowledge of OT procedures, surgical workflows, and infection control practices.
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
- Inventory and resource management skills.
- Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Familiarity with NABH/JCI standards and hospital quality systems.
- Proficiency in hospital information systems and Microsoft Office.
