The Operations Manager in a 4-star hotel is responsible for ensuring that all hotel departments operate efficiently, guests receive excellent service, and business goals are achieved.
Duties and Responsibilities of an Operations Manager (4-Star Hotel)
- Oversee the daily operations of all hotel departments.
- Ensure exceptional guest satisfaction and service quality.
- Supervise Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Maintenance, and Security.
- Develop and implement hotel policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor staff performance and conduct regular training.
- Prepare duty rosters and manage workforce scheduling.
- Handle guest complaints and resolve service issues promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards throughout the hotel.
- Ensure compliance with local laws, hotel regulations, and licensing requirements.
- Monitor room occupancy, revenue, and operational costs.
- Control departmental budgets and reduce unnecessary expenses.
- Coordinate with Sales and Marketing to maximize occupancy and revenue.
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and public areas.
- Manage inventory and procurement of operational supplies.
- Monitor food quality, service standards, and customer feedback.
- Ensure preventive maintenance of hotel facilities and equipment.
- Conduct daily briefing meetings with department heads.
- Review operational reports, guest reviews, and performance metrics.
- Implement quality improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate emergency response procedures and crisis management.
- Foster teamwork and effective communication across departments.
- Ensure compliance with brand standards (if part of a hotel chain).
- Monitor security systems and guest safety measures.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and employee development.
- Achieve departmental KPIs and overall hotel profitability.
- Build positive relationships with guests, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Oversee event and banquet operations when required.
- Ensure efficient check-in and check-out processes.
- Analyze competitor performance and industry trends.
- Report operational performance to the General Manager.
