Position Overview
We are looking for a passionate and hands-on Assistant Restaurant Manager to manage the day-to-day operations of the restaurant and ensure smooth service, excellent guest experience, team performance, and adherence to CAARA's operational standards.
The ideal candidate should have strong leadership skills, a guest-first approach, good communication abilities, and a solid understanding of restaurant operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Restaurant Operations
- Manage daily restaurant operations and ensure smooth functioning of the outlet.
- Ensure high standards of food quality, service, hygiene, ambience, and guest experience.
- Monitor opening and closing procedures and ensure operational checklists are followed.
- Coordinate effectively with Kitchen, Service, Bar, Housekeeping, and other departments.
- Ensure compliance with company SOPs, policies, and operational standards.
2. Guest Experience
- Deliver exceptional and personalized guest service.
- Interact with guests regularly and proactively address feedback and concerns.
- Handle guest complaints professionally and ensure timely resolution.
- Build strong relationships with regular and VIP guests.
- Monitor guest satisfaction and identify opportunities to improve the overall experience.
3. Team Management
- Lead, supervise, and motivate the Front of House team.
- Allocate daily duties and responsibilities to team members.
- Conduct pre-shift briefings and ensure the team is well-informed about daily operations.
- Monitor staff grooming, attendance, punctuality, discipline, and performance.
- Coach and train team members on service standards, product knowledge, and SOPs.
- Support performance evaluations and identify training and development needs.
4. Sales & Revenue
- Monitor daily sales and outlet performance against targets.
- Drive upselling and suggestive selling initiatives.
- Monitor table turnover, average bill value, and other operational KPIs.
- Support the Restaurant Manager / management team in achieving revenue targets.
- Identify opportunities to increase sales and improve profitability.
5. Inventory & Cost Control
- Monitor food, beverage, and operating supplies to minimize wastage.
- Coordinate with the kitchen and purchase team for inventory requirements.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of restaurant supplies.
- Monitor breakages, wastage, and pilferage.
- Support stock-taking and inventory control processes.
6. Hygiene, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure the restaurant maintains excellent hygiene and cleanliness standards.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and workplace safety requirements.
- Conduct regular checks of service areas, guest areas, washrooms, and back-of-house areas.
- Ensure all team members follow grooming and hygiene standards.
- Immediately report and address any safety or operational concerns.
7. Reporting & Administration
- Prepare and maintain daily operational reports.
- Monitor attendance, manpower deployment, and shift schedules.
- Maintain records related to guest feedback, incidents, wastage, and operational issues.
- Communicate daily operational updates to the senior management team.
- Support audits and implementation of corrective actions.
Candidate Profile
- 2–5 years of experience in restaurant, café, fine dining, casual dining, or hospitality operations.
- Candidates with experience in premium or upscale restaurants will be preferred.
- Strong understanding of Front of House operations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership and team-management abilities.
- Guest-oriented and service-focused approach.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Good knowledge of restaurant SOPs, hygiene, and service standards.
- Basic knowledge of sales, inventory, and cost control.
- Comfortable working in rotational shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Education
Preferred: Diploma / Degree in Hotel Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
