Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Staff Nurse specializing in Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) and Operating Theatre (OT) to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive patient care in high-acuity settings, utilizing advanced nursing skills and a broad knowledge of medical procedures. This role offers an opportunity to work within a teaching hospital environment, contributing to critical care, surgical support, and post-operative recovery, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and quality care.
Responsibilities
- Deliver expert nursing care to critically ill patients in MICU and surgical patients in OT, including preoperative and postoperative management.
- Perform detailed patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and recognize early signs of deterioration.
- Administer medications, including injections and IV infusions, following strict aseptic techniques and hospital protocols.
- Assist with complex procedures such as suturing, catheterization (including urinary and vascular), tube feeding, and ventilator management.
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient care activities.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for discharge planning, case management, and long-term care strategies.
- Manage infection control practices adhering to HIPAA standards and NCQA standards to ensure patient safety.
- Provide specialized care for diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal ventilator management, dementia care, Alzheimer's care, and patients with developmental disabilities.
- Support emergency interventions such as airway management, trauma medicine (Level I & II Trauma Center experience), acute pain management, and triage procedures.
- Participate in teaching hospital activities by mentoring junior staff and students while maintaining compliance with hospital policies.
Requirements
- Valid nursing license with current registration;
- experience in ICU and OT is mandatory
