Summary:
Act as the ongoing interface between the client and the system or application. Responsible for administration of Microsoft Windows Server environments and Ansible-based configuration management and automation across hybrid on-premises and cloud infrastructure.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Administer Microsoft Windows Server (2012, 2016, 2019, 2022, 2025) including installation, configuration, hardening, and lifecycle management
Administer Windows infrastructure services: File & Print Services, Windows Failover Clustering
Maintain Ansible playbooks and roles targeting Windows nodes via WinRM for configuration management, software deployment, and patching
Manage Windows patch compliance using WSUS with Ansible orchestrating patching workflows and post-patch validation
Maintain Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) / AWX: job templates, credentials, projects, schedules, and role-based access for operations teams
Monitor Windows Server health, event logs, resource utilization, and service availability across on-premises and cloud-hosted instances
Perform capacity planning, disk and storage management, and resource optimization across the Windows estate
Support server build and decommissioning workflows including OS deployment, application installation, and domain join automation via Ansible
Maintain system documentation, Ansible playbook repositories (Git), runbooks, and Windows configuration management records

Monitoring: Windows Event Viewer, Splunk
Cloud: AWS Systems Manager, Azure Arc (on-premises Windows nodes in Azure)
Automation: Ansible, PowerShell, PowerShell DSC, Python (pywinrm), Git
ITSM: ServiceNow
SLA / KPI Ownership:
Ensure adherence to SLA/KPI commitments across all managed Windows Server and Ansible automation environments including patching
Track MTTR (Mean Time to Resolve) and MTTA (Mean Time to Acknowledge) for all Windows infrastructure incidents
Monitor Windows patch compliance rates, Ansible job success rates and server availability
Publish service performance reports and contribute to monthly service review decks
Client Facing Responsibilities:
Participate in war room calls during major Windows platform incidents
Handle escalation matrix and maintain clear communication with application, security, and business stakeholders
Provide timely status updates during incidents, patch cycles, and change events
Participate in governance, service review, CAB, and capacity planning meetings
Coordinate with Microsoft Premier Support and Red Hat (Ansible) support for critical issue
Professional & Technical Skills:
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills in a client-facing environment
Ability to handle critical Windows platform incidents and coordinate escalations under pressure
Flexible to work in a hybrid on-call or 24/7 rotation model as required
Strong analytical mindset with a focus on automation, repeatability, and configuration consistency
Willingness to continuously develop Ansible skills and champion infrastructure-as-code practices within the Windows estate
Microsoft Windows Server (2012/2016/2019/2022/2025), Ansible (Automation & Configuration Management PowerShell, Hybrid Windows Infrastructure Operations, WSUS, Azure update Manager
3 to 5 years of total experience in Windows Server administration with hands-on Ansible automation in a hybrid environment
Hands-on experience writing Ansible playbooks and roles targeting Windows nodes using WinRM / HTTPS transport
Practical experience with Windows patch management using WSUS including automation via PowerShell or Ansible
Familiarity with Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) for centralized automation job
Exposure to hybrid Windows management using Azure Arc is a plus
Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate preferred Red Hat Ansible Automation Specialist a strong plus
Additional Information:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline. Relevant industry certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or Red Hat Ansible Automation Specialist are strongly preferred.
